Nomenclature 2
Part of the nomenclature unit involved having to complete the Frontier Chemistry Project. This project required taking pictures of medicinal plants in the local area and finding out their chemical formulas and structures. This was difficult because a lot of research was required in order to get every single piece of information completed. By completing this project, I not only extended my knowledge of nomenclature, but I also learned how it can be useful in the real world.

Funky Thinking About Naming
Polyatomic Atoms
As we were learning about Nomenclature in Chemistry, I learned, and memorized, 22 atoms. I learned their name and their corresponding formula which took a long time. But, i am glad i learned these because we will be using them all year and its very helpful when naming acids. We made flashcards to make it easier and so that we could study anytime we want during the school day if we had free time.
Frontier Chemistry Project
During the last couple of months we had to find plants all over Missouri and find their medical uses. This was very hard due to the variety of plants that have no medical uses. But, with help from a very useful book I did my project in a little over a week. This was also very beneficial for me because I can now treat many illnesses if i ever get lost in the wild. I never would have thought that Chemistry would teach me something that would help me in the wild.
