Chemical Reactions 1
Today in class, we learned about RedOx reactions. Unlike the other reactions we have been learning about, RedOx reactions use the transfer of electrons as their driving force. If an element loses electrons, then it is considered oxidized, and if it gains electrons, it is considered reduced. These reactions are single-replacement reactions in which a metal will replace a metal and a nonmetal will replace a nonmetal. They will be of use in the future when we have to predict the products of a chemical reaction that uses the transfer of electrons as their driving force.
